Common Questions
I don't see any pests — do I still need pest control?
Fair question. In Southwest Florida, by the time you spot a roach in the kitchen or ghost ants on the counter, there's usually a colony somewhere you can't see. Our humidity, rainy season, and slab-on-grade homes keep pests active all 12 months.
What a quarterly visit does:
- Renews the exterior treatment before sun and rain wear it down
- Catches entry points — weep holes, soffit gaps, slab cracks — before anything moves in
- Covers you between visits: on a recurring plan, if covered pests show up, we come back free
If you're pest-free right now, that's the easiest time to start. We're maintaining, not chasing.
Why are ongoing treatments necessary instead of just an initial one?
Because Florida has no off-season. Warm, wet weather keeps ants, roaches, and spiders active year-round, and exterior treatments wear down in the sun and rain. Recurring visits renew that protection, catch new entry points, and adjust to what's active each season — ghost ants in the rainy months, rodents moving indoors in the cooler ones. The first service knocks the population down. Recurring visits keep it down.
Do your prices go up?
On a month-to-month residential plan, each service's rate holds for your first 12 months; your WaveGuard bundle discount follows the services you keep. After that we review a rate once a year, and if it changes you'll hear from us in writing at least 30 days before the new rate applies, with the reason. Month-to-month plans have no contract — cancel anytime. Termite programs and warranties, annual-contract plans such as mosquito misting systems, and commercial accounts follow their own agreements.
Is it necessary for me to be at home during pest and lawn services?
For your first pest control visit, yes. We walk the property with you, look at problem spots, and treat inside. After that, most pest visits are exterior, so you don't need to be home; if a visit includes interior work, we'll set a time with you. Lawn service happens outdoors, so you don't need to be home for any lawn visit. Either way, you get a digital service report with photos when we're done.
Why hire a professional when I can do it myself?
You can handle a lot yourself: seal gaps, fix leaks, pull mulch back from the foundation. A pro earns the fee in the parts that are easy to get wrong. That means identifying the exact species (ghost ants and fire ants need opposite approaches), choosing products that won't scatter a colony, and getting into attics and soffits. On a recurring plan, we also come back free if pests return. Store-bought repellent sprays often push ants and roaches deeper into the walls instead of ending the problem.
What are these tiny bugs in my pantry?
Usually one of three: Indian meal moths (small moths, plus webbing in grain or cereal), rice weevils (tiny beetles with a snout, in rice and pasta), or flour beetles (small reddish-brown beetles in flour and baking mixes). Throw out infested food, vacuum the shelves, and move dry goods into sealed containers. If they keep coming back after a thorough clean-out, call us and we'll track down the source.
Why do you treat both the inside and outside of my home?
The first visit covers both: we treat what's active indoors and set up protection outside. After that, recurring visits focus on the exterior — the perimeter, eaves, and entry points — because that's where most Florida pests come from. If you need an inside treatment between visits, we'll come back for that too, free on a recurring plan.
What happens if I'm still seeing pests after my first treatment?
That's normal for the first week or two. The treatment disturbs hidden nests and flushes pests into the open before it takes full effect, so you may see more before you see fewer. If activity hasn't dropped after about two weeks, call us. On a recurring plan, the re-treat is free.
How is payment handled?
Most recurring plans bill the card on file after each completed visit, through autopay. You can also prepay a full year up front. Invoices, receipts, and payment history are all in your customer portal and our app.
Will I know when my technician is coming?
Yes. You get a reminder before your visit, and when your tech heads your way you get a live map link showing where they are and when they'll arrive. After the visit, your service report arrives by text and email.
Is your pest control safe for my kids and pets?
No honest company can call a pesticide "safe." What we can tell you: we use EPA-registered products and apply them according to their label directions, which are written to protect people and pets. After every service, your technician gives you re-entry guidance. Usually that means keeping kids and pets off treated areas until the product has dried. If anyone in your home has sensitivities, tell us and we'll plan the treatment around them.
Should I start pest control right after moving into a new home?
It's a good time to. New homes get pests too: fresh sod often arrives with fire ants, construction leaves gaps around pipes and conduits, and the builder's code-required termite protection usually lapses a few years after closing. An early visit seals up entry points and sets up protection before anything settles in.
What does your guarantee cover?
On recurring plans, if covered pests come back between scheduled visits, we come back and re-treat free, as often as it takes. If we can't resolve a covered problem after a fair chance, we refund your most recent service payment. One-time treatments and inspections aren't covered, and termite treatment carries no guarantee of its own: a renewable termite warranty is optional and sold separately, with its own written terms. Read the full Waves Guarantee.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We’re licensed by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS pest control business license JB351547) and insured. Our technicians work under that license, as Florida law requires.
Why is pest control important?
In Southwest Florida, pests do more than annoy you. Roof rats chew wiring and foul attic insulation. Termites cause structural damage that homeowners insurance usually doesn't cover. German roaches and rodents contaminate food and kitchens, and mosquitoes can carry diseases like West Nile virus. Regular service keeps small problems from turning into expensive ones.
Where can I find pest control near me?
If you're in Manatee, Sarasota, or Charlotte County, we're local: Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Parrish, Palmetto, Sarasota, Venice, North Port, Port Charlotte, and the communities in between. Enter your address in our quote form and you’ll have a price in about a minute.
